Someone point me to songs like these, please?

Fiona Apple sings “I Walk a Little Faster”:

Serious request.

Also, is it me, or is this song really hard to sing? :-/ I think it’s me, because it sounds like it should be doable, but I’m going badly off scale.

  1. How about Norah Jones? But I guess you know her already. I can recommend going back in time: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday…

hmmm… can’t think of anyone else right now, but if I do, I’ll let you know.

    • Yeah, I already know and like Norah Jones. I didn’t much like Ella Fitzgerald, and I haven’t heard much of Billie Holiday.

  2. Hmmm…. how about Duffy? Most of her songs might be too R’n’B-ish but Stepping Stone might fit what you’re looking for:

the same goes for Adele and Hometown glory:

[I can strongly recommend both albums in general, btw.]

If you “only” want strong female voice and piano and not so much the feel of Fiona Apple’s song, there’s always Amanda Palmer.

  3. Another thing, maybe a little more far-fetched, but the Once soundtrack? And their official solo-album as The Swell Season?

Even if it’s not exactly Fiona Apple, it’s beautiful stuff.
